Privacy Policy
Paint Pomodoro is a focus timer that reveals a masterpiece painting as you complete your work sessions. It collects no personal data, sends no network requests, and has no accounts. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information.
In short
- We collect nothing. No personal data, no usage analytics, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers.
- Everything stays on your device. Your timer progress, settings, and unlocked paintings are stored only in your browser's local extension storage (
chrome.storage.local). - No network calls. The extension never connects to any server. All artwork and sounds are bundled inside the extension and generated on your device.
1. Data we do not collect
Paint Pomodoro does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email, location, IP address)
- Browsing history, visited websites, or page content
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash logs
- Advertising or device identifiers
- Any data entered outside the extension
Opening the extension's DevTools Network tab will show zero network requests during normal use.
2. Data stored locally on your device
The extension stores the following data only on your device using your browser's extension storage:
- Settings — work/break durations, number of sessions per reveal, chosen soundscape.
- Timer state — whether a session is running and its remaining time.
- Progress — completed pomodoro counts, your daily streak, and how much of the current painting has been revealed.
This data is used solely to make the extension work and to preserve your progress between sessions. It never leaves your device. Uninstalling the extension (or clearing your browser data) deletes it permanently.
3. Permissions
Paint Pomodoro requests the minimum permissions needed to function:
storage— save your settings and progress locally (Section 2).alarms— keep the timer accurate even when the browser is busy.notifications— tell you when a focus session ends.offscreen— play ambient soundscapes while the popup is closed.
The extension requests no host permissions — it cannot read or modify the content of websites you visit.
4. Soundscapes and artwork
Ambient sounds (rain, ocean, white noise, forest, classical) are generated in real time by the extension's audio engine using the Web Audio API. No audio files are downloaded and no third-party audio services are used.
Paintings are public-domain works of art (artists deceased 70+ years), sourced from Wikimedia Commons and bundled inside the extension package. They are displayed locally and are never uploaded anywhere.
5. Third-party services
None. The extension does not integrate with, embed, or send data to any third-party service, analytics provider, advertising network, or content delivery network.
6. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the version and effective date above will be updated. Because the extension collects no data, a material change would only reflect a change in the extension's behavior.
